As mortal entities, there are a series of biologically determined events which are common to most human lives, and some which are inevitable for all. The ongoing way in which humans react to or cope with these events is the human condition. However, understanding the precise nature and scope of what is meant by the human condition is itself a philosophical problem.

The term is also used in a metaphysical sense, to describe the joy, terror and other feelings or emotions associated with being and existence. Humans, to an apparently superlative degree amongst all living things, are aware of the passage of time, can remember the past and imagine the future, and are intimately aware of their own mortality. Only human beings are known to ask themselves questions relating to the purpose of life beyond the base need for survival, or the nature of existence beyond that which is empirically apparent: What is the meaning of existence? Why was I born? Why am I here? Where will I go when I die? The human struggle to find answers to these questions — and the very fact that we can conceive them and ask them — is what defines the human condition in this sense of the term.

Although the term itself may have gained popular currency with The Human Condition, a film trilogy directed by Masaki Kobayashi which examined these and related concepts, the quest to understand the human condition dates back to the first attempts by humans to understand themselves and their place in the universe.

Stephen Colberts' Big Rocky Mountain Oysters

Stephen Colbert at the White House Correspondents Dinner, Roasted President Bush in what feedscott will call a severe tonge lashing. Colbert said things about the President's Administration that anti Bush bloggers have been saying for awhile. Some illegal immigrants are working for below minimum wage and in unsatisfactory conditions. Whether they are called indentured servants or slaves these are the workers doing the jobs that most Americans will not do for below minimum wage. This is America's dirty little secret. Tomorrow thousands of people will protest for the illegal immigrants' amnesty, work visas, equal rights, and a chance at the American Dream! These people will not go to work or to school. Los Angeles California will suffer the greatest where an estimated 3 million illegal immigrants reside. The actual number is probably closer to 6 or 10 million.

The produce supply chain will be be affected as well as some restaurant services. Estimates of illegal immigrants nationwide are about 12 million. feedscott believes this number to be about 20 to 30 million. Logistically there is no way to locate and deport this many people. Even if marshal law was declared there are not enough resources to accomplish this mass deportation.

America and Americans must now come to the realization that the peaceful invasion from Mexico has been accomplished. There must now be plans made for how to accommodate these people. feedscott does not agree with the way these people came to the US, but the exodus has arrived over time. The first step must be to secure the borders with technology, not a wall. Second, a way to assimilate these immigrants must be quick, easy, and beneficial to the immigrants as well as the US.

Follow up to: Immigration Imagination

Michelle Malkin Vents some Hot Air

Discovered today:

Michelle Malkin is Vod Casting with the Vlog Vent on Hot Air. Imagine having to deal with 11 million to 15 million people in this country without legal documentation. An exodus mostly from Mexico has brought and brings people across the US borders to search for the American Dream and Jobs. Granted these immigrant people are breaking the law. However, this country of America was founded by immigrants who broke Mexican laws and Indian treaties to establish the USA. Paybacks are tough?

feedscott is in favor of amnesty for illegal immigrants without penalty, but with due process. If you want to live and work in America you have the feedscott blessing. If you can get here and you want to be here God Bless You!

The argument that illegal immigrants strain American resources eg. hospitals, welfare, and jobs is valid, but a diversion from the real issue of freedom and liberty. America needs to change programs to accommodate current citizens and more immigrants that will be coming.

As far as Home Land Defense and National Security issues related to unchecked immigration. These topics will have to wait for another view tank post.

Picture from: newyorkphotoblog.com/blog

NASCAR explodes as NBC bombs

In an effort to create news and not report it. Paper trails of sightings, pictures, and videos are everywhere. TV programs highlight the incredible to the insane stories. In the past if you said you had seen a UFO you were thought to be touched in the head, out of touch with reality, or on drugs. Well today discussing a UFO sighting is very much common place. So, today feedscott will come out of the UFO closet and tell you about an up close and personal sighting.

The year was 1991. The place was 91st ave and Federal in a suburb just north of Denver Colorado.

The time was early in the morning about 4 am. I lived on the second floor of a corner apartment facing west 1 block east of Federal. I was having a restless sleep, so I got up and was having a glass of water and sitting at the kitchen table. I was facing west looking out the window down 91st when I saw it. There was a object coming east down 91st ave about 20 feet above the telephone poles. It resembled a thick wing shape that spanned the width of 91st. The texture was semi transparent with a mix of colors that faded in an out. It made no sound whatsoever. At first I thought my eyes or street lights in the window were playing tricks on me. But, as it slowly came closer down the street I stood up and looked at it from different angles in the room and also went right up to the window for a better view. I watched it for a good minute and a half or longer. It crossed the intersection at 91st and continued moving east. At this point I had to change windows and when I did it was gone. Then I had a sense of curiosity to go outside on the north balcony, but I was a little apprehensive. I didn't want to be abducted. This was my actual thought! I went outside in spite of my anxiety. There was nothing. I looked east, north, and straight up. Vanished with out a sound or trace.

You may ask yourself why should I believe this UFO story.

First, I am an Air Force Brat aka (the child of an Armed Forces Soldier). I have spent half my life living on or around Air Force military bases and am very familiar with all forms of aircraft. I have never seen anything like what I saw that morning.

Second, this was not some light in the sky or object on the horizon. This sighting was less than 100 feet away from me.

Third, I am not presenting a picture or video that may have been altered. I am giving you my first hand testimony of what I saw and remember.

It doesn't make any difference to me whether you believe me or not. However, I hope you do. This object was an advanced technology. Whether it was earthly, celestial, or of another dimension I have no idea.

If it was earthly my guess it was a stealth military vehicle. Hopefully American.

If it was celestial (from outer space) maybe it was looking for cows? I don't know :)

If it was from another dimension. I don't know what it was doing.

I do know I saw it, and now I have shared it with you.

Trackbacks:

Bloggers - UFO Sightings

Washington Mutual Commercials: Funny or Racist?

Have you seen the new set of Washington Mutual (Wamu) Banking commercials launched on 3/13/2006?

The commercials portray a young black man (the good banker) and about 20 mature white men (the old school bad bankers). The white men are kept herded in a corral. The black banker asks the white banker's questions about incentives for customers and the white bankers scoff at his suggestions. In one commercial an oversized guinea pig water feeder is lowered down to the white men. In another commercial caviar is fed to the white men with a giant spoon. The commercial is funny on different levels, but what is disturbing is the fact that the commercials single out white men as pets, animals, and slaves. Also, the commercial seems to say that all bankers of importance in the past are white men. Why did Wamu choose to divide strictly by race color?

My message to Wamu: Not a good PR move to promote yourself with racism. Shamu on Wamu!

Here is what Wamu says about the new campaign under news section.

Another Link

Wamu Media Contact: Mary Kelley, 206-377-6878 mary.kelley@wamu.net

Trackbacks:

Blogmemes.net

Craigslist

Stormfront.org

Johnny Triangles

Newsvine

Tags: TV Advertising Marketing Slavery Bigotry Prejudice "Race Card" "Micro Persuasion" "Steve Rubel" "Seth Godin"

Last Liberal in Central Florida agrees with feedscott

In the view tank previous post Impeachment Is Not The Answer feedscott points out "We are Americans First." First, so you know I lean right. I didn't think we should impeach President Bill Clinton and I don't think that President George Bush should be impeached. This type of rhetoric undermines the US political fabric, detours focus of the US Government, and damages our foriegn relations. If you disagree with policy so be it. But jumping on the impeachment bandwagon does no party any good and camouflages and detracts from the real issues.

Ward Churchill on Psychedelic Mushrooms?

Michelle Malkin took aim at Jay Bennish on the Bill O'Reilly Factor. I noted this on the feedscott blog a couple days ago. The theme was "how to do it yourself abortion" and "how to perform an abortion" among other abortion related search strings.

feedscott view of abortion

Abortion is the elimination of life be it conscious or unconscious. Living cells that are or will become a human being are being destroyed.

I am against abortion, but I defend the parent’s right to have a legal abortion. Even though the female carries the child, both parents should have equal say in the decision. In a case of rape or incest the pregnant mother should have the full and final say with consultation from family, friends, or a doctor at whatever age that pregnant mother is.

Is abortion ever ok?

There are a lot of people who say abortion is not ok, except in the case of rape, incest, or if the mother’s life is in danger. Abortion is never ok! There are options for adoption in the case of rape or incest. If the mother’s life is in danger then that becomes a medical decision and less of an ethical one.

A woman should never have to give herself an abortion, go to an underground clinic, or leave the state or country to have an abortion. This is part of the reason I support legal abortion. I do not agree with it, but I support it.

This is a hot and sensitive issue. All comments will be posted excluding personal attacks and profanity. New blogs are growing at an exceptional exponential rate.

News watchers are now news spreaders, self included. I can't remember the last time I watched a full news broadcast on TV or skimmed an entire paper. My news is digital now.

We are not seeing the death of blogs we are witnessing their birth.

Recently, I attended a 4 year college that is technical in nature.

Not once did I hear or read the word blog. Truly Amazing!

Blogging was something I discovered with help from friends and associates in the business fields.

English 305 should be blogging for billions, and yet blogging was completely absent from the curriculum of a technical school.

Myspace is really just a networked blog community and there are many others. These bloggy networks are not even tallied in the technorati 30 million indexed blogs.

MSM takes aim at blogs at their weakest link, which right now is targeted at all the attention paid to the Singapore teen Tammy NYP video scandal download craze.

MSM is attacking a rain drop in the Blog Storm of the Century. The MSM paradigm model has shifted and there is no going back and "That's the way it is."

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://viewtank.blogspot.com/2006/02/late-to-blog-party-why-so-many-people.html' title='Late to the Blog Party? But, in the feedscott future line blog I mentioned Tammy and got 400 hits in one day when normally I get about 50. Also, the top 6 searches are Tammy related on Technorati. So, here is my 2 cents.

For those of you out of the loop, here is the skinny. Tammy and a young man, We will call him Timmy made some intimate home movies on her camera cell phone. Well, Murphy’s law kicked in and Tammy’s cell phone ended up in the hands of her nemesis the evil cheerleader; and now somehow portions of this home movie are being released for public viewing on the internet. Go figure.

Ok, here are my views. I watched the movie. Don't waste time asking for it, the link is gone and I deleted it.

First, no young teens should have to learn this lesson on a world stage; my heart goes out to Tammy and Timmy. Second, anyone who knowingly and willingly lets them self be recorded in intimate situations is just asking for the pain. Ask Dr. Laura, Paris Hilton, Pam Anderson and Tommy Lee and on and on and on? Was Tammy willing? The phone was supposedly hers. Did Tammy and Timmy know they were being recorded? Yes, they both did.
With easy access to video cameras in general as well as in cell phones and PDA's the suspicion is there will be a lot more of this going on and Tammy and Timmy are just the young pioneers. Parents be on notice.

Diamond David Lee Roth is Back!!!

David Lee Roth is the hands down the best rock and roll front man of all time. There really are no words to describe the new pictures released from abu ghraib. These pictures portray an American page in history that is as ugly as Nazi concentration camp footage, but in bloody color. Of course, there is no full context to the pictures, but some of the abu ghraib pictures need no introduction.

Some will argue political agendas, but the abuse at abu ghraib goes far beyond political boundaries. There was a complete collapse and lack of leadership, judgment, ethics and sanity. Beyond comprehension!

It is easy to live in America with all the freedoms we have and criticize actions of some people who defend this country. America is far from the front lines and for the most part is sheltered from the gruesome atrocities of war. Even though the saying"war is hell" rings true, abu ghraib is not a case of war is hell abu ghraib is a case of abuse, torture and hell on earth, not acceptable under any circumstance.

These are links to the very graphic abu ghraib pictures and accounts.

I do not recommend these for the faint of heart or young children:

Pictures and Commentary

Video Report on iFilm

brrreeeport beats out the Mohammed Cartoon

What is the brrreeeport

Anyways, currently the brrreeeport has 91 posts and the Mohammed Cartoon has 1,547 posts on Technorati. The brrreeeport is ahead of the Mohammed Cartoon in status. So, recent frequency of the brrreeeport is definitely part or the formula for determining status on Technorati.

On a side note, Technorati has been performing irregular for the past few days. Showing recent posts are from 60 days ago and just running extremely slow. This may have something to do with the new authority feature that blocks blogs with out enough links.

PS... The Mayor was taking some photo ops and visited city workers desk. The worker rose out of his chair to meet the Mayor and shake his hand. Bloomberg noticed the worker had Solitaire running. The Mayor took no immediate action, but later had that worker let go, so Yahoo new says. Digg has the story and it made the front page. Was it the cartoons? I had a fascination with the comics due to my lack of reading skills and of course comics are amusing. Today the morbid fascination and amusement with the “Mohammed Cartoon” is two fold. First, fascinating how the radical sects of Muslims are reacting with violence and murder and second is a sense of gotcha amusement from western culture. Radical Muslim terrorism has left victims with a sense of spite and want for revenge. This cartoon portraying Muhammad with a bomb in his turban does wonders for the anti Muslim psyche while reeking havoc in the minds of devoted Muslims. I distinguish between radical and moderate Muslims. Because, this author believes moderate Muslims are just as outraged with the Mohammed Cartoon as the radical Muslims, but are not taking violent action. I am a proponent of free speech and defend the cartoonists right to free press, however I think the descision to publish these anti Muslim cartoons was poor judgement on the part of the cartoonist. I am not displaying the Mohammed Cartoon out of respect for Muslims, and hope cooler heads will prevail as we move toward better understanding of our vastly different cultures.

Cartoon from: Here

What is a Zillow you ask? Not just by means of cell phones, TV, and the internet. This connection relates more to the interconnection of people through different channels, mediums, services, forums, and social interaction in cyber space. We are linking, feeding, streaming, commenting, blogging, reading, listening, and watching real-time news, events, public opinions, and relevance form simultaneously and sequentially. Everyone has their own ideas, opinions, thoughts, and preferences. These intangible agencies are being combined into one Collective Consciousness in Cyber Space. With social bookmaking, tagging, and ranking one can see the importance or relevance to the Collective Consciousness. Some interpretations, outcomes or results may be a bit skewed and off the mark, but this is the nature of imperfection an attribute we all share. Calls for help from the Syrian government fell on deaf ears a spokesperson for the Danish embassy stated. While American Muslims condemn the violence, they agree with boycotts of Danish dairy products and other diplomatic actions in light of the Danish Muslim Cartoons. Bush blamed the Syrian government stating “We will hold Syria responsible for such violent demonstrations since they do not take place in that country without government knowledge and support.” Photo from: Bassem Tellawi / AP

Muslim Cartoon Vanishes as did the Danish Embassy

AP Photo

Most of the web pages showing the controversial Danish Muslim cartoon are over run or have been taken down. Employees arrived at work to find the doors padlocked and a sign stating the closure. No prior warning was given to employees or customers.

All three stores in Colorado were closed including some in Arizona, New Mexico, and most if not all of the East Coast stores. Employees are not only concerned for their future, but also about the customers who have computers in for service, or have computers and parts on order or in the stores. The PC Club website gives no explanation about the closures under the News section currently. But, the store locations that were closed have been eliminated from the website listings. Instead of 60 stores the website now lists 43. Visit here again for future updates on these closures.

Davids vs Goliaths

Web 2.0 is here, like the buzzword or not. Web 2.0 is a platform or architecture that ushers in a new way that users can interact with websites and web applications. Browsing has been replaced with interaction where users can customize, personalize, and signify the way they view and interface with their computer appliances and applications. Organization and hierarchy of information is now critical to label and file the vast amounts of data and information available. Tags are now playing a major role in categorizing websites, blogs, podcasts, vodcasts, and the associated RSS and other feeds.

One new site called Blinklist.com is taking tags or tagging to a new level. Blinklist which was launched July 2005 offers users the ability to save and tag bookmarks, links, and favorites lists online, accessible from any web enabled browser. The benefits to this are numerous. First, if you are not at your computer and you need to pull up a number of your bookmarks this is now possible. You can also save a bookmark at work and access it from home or wherever. Backing up your links online is also a great idea if your computer happens to crash. There are many other social bookmarking or tagging solutions, but Blinklist offers a more aesthetic and user friendly interface similar to the popular digg.com. Blinklist also offers the option to import links from de.licio.us, furl, and browsers. The Blinklist mother company MindValley founded in October 2003 is expanding into other areas of opportunity including feed tags and ecommerce.

At a recently attended conference hosted by Qwest , voice mail was being imported into Outlook. Currently, many people access voice mail on a phone, browse the web on firefox, get news feeds on Google and Wizz RSS, email from Google and Outlook, and feed podcasts and vodcasts on FireAnt. Consolidation of tasks is now beginning to be trendy as users look for more comprehensive ways to communicate and assimilate information.

Google Labs recently launched a chat aggregator called Google Talk or there is meebo in alpha for chat aggregation. Feeds from reddit, digg.com, slashdot, de.licio.us are being mashed up to form one feed called reddiggdot.us.

As we move toward the next generation of web applications and their integration, technology goliath companies like Google and Microsoft will certainly be major players. But, this is forcing smaller “david” companies like MindValley and FireAnt to have further vision, more innovation, better products, and be faster to market to compete with the “microsoft” and “google” “goliaths”.

President George Bush State of the Union Address

President Bush emphasized two key points in the beginning of The State of the Union Address. First was leadership and the second was freedom. He spoke of the importance of international relations. How America in the past has been the leader in helping countries to establish their freedoms and how this support continues in Afghanistan and Iraq. He also pointed out how there is still much work to be done in regards to freedom pointing to Syria and North Korea. The President talked about the importance of continuing international trade, but did not touch on the extreme trade deficits in favor of China and other countries currently. I was only able to see the first part of the address. So, other key points will have to be left for others to comment on. Overall the President seemed optimistic about the current State of the Union but not excited.

At the speed of Blog: Information Overload

Information overload! Never before have we had as much access to as much information as we due today on the internet. Newsgroups, email, vmail, chat, social websites, news aggregators, blogs, podcasting, vlogs, and vod are all contributors to the vast amounts of data available. Scott Converse the CEO of Clickcaster.com described his “overload from data from the blogosphere” in his blog. With so much data and information available, new tools must now be developed to help us search, organize and disseminate relevant data and information we are interested in and need.

Google is great for searching the web but still has a lot of white noise not related to what the public is interested in finding. Even with the Google personalization, relevant and great information is being buried in the billions of results from a search. Technorati is great for searching 26.6 millions blogs, but has the same issues as Google. del.icio.us is a great site for book marking and tags, but is in its infancy. Savvy internet users can not afford to waste time reading through countless numbers of websites, articles and blogs searching for what is needed. Relevancy and organization are two keys that must be implemented in the next generation of web apps. Users need a fast and convenient way to pinpoint relevant information in the massive amount of data now available.

20th Challenger Anniversary

On a personal note:

Commander Francis R. Dick and June gave me a Tiger bear when I was very young. It came with a wind up music box inside that had to be removed in a delicate operation. Also, Mom had to sew new ears on Tiger 3 or 4 different times. Tiger has very realistic green eyes that are piercing. I still have Tiger and I will post a picture soon. The willfull competitive reasons are financial and logistical. The unwillfull reason is due to the natural selection of better companies. Both Ford and Daimler Chrysler are going to have incremental layoffs resulting in a 30,000 loss in manufacturing at Ford and a 3,000 loss in adminstration at Daimler Chrysler. IT jobs are going to India. Manufacturing jobs are going to China. Thank goodness for Walmart or we wouldn't have any jobs left in America.

Life After Death

What is it about the phenomenon of life after death that fascinates people and influences so much heated debate? Is the fascination of this phenomenon due to its shielding behind the veil of death? Is this a religious debate or a human debate?

To believe in life after death requires faith, the belief in something not seen or experienced. To disbelieve in life after death also requires faith. To not care at all is due to a lack of curiosity or disinterest.

To find the answers people look to science, religion, or inward. The answer remains a mystery to science, because science is limited to physical boundaries. The answer remains a source of debate between religious sects stemming from different belief systems. The answer to life after death remains a personal conclusion and one thing is for sure. Everyone finds out in the end, because nobody is getting out of here alive.
I am curious what you think. With the recent al-qaeda terror message on 1-19-2006 offering truce and predicting imminent attack, one can wonder what big event could be a potential target. What is a larger than life event in the near future? Easy to notice the Super Bowl will be held in Detroit February 5th 2006. Hard to notice any media stories related to the potential for terrorist attack at the Super Bowl.

My compliments to the major networks for not exploiting public fear and raising anxiety about unfounded terrorist attacks; however, we are living in a post 911 world and the threat for an attack in the heart or heartland of America has been relayed. The al-qaeda message is not a threat that should be taken lightly, nor should people live in a state of fear or panic. Living in fear would be exactly what the terrorists would like. On the contrary, people should go about doing the things they want and need to do while being alert, mindful, and vigilant of strangers and surroundings.

I am curious what you think.
